Meinier primary school in Geneva
Competition Entry, 2017
The school building from the 1960s is replaced by a new construction, with a volume which follows the urban context. The proposed extension takes the orthogonal shape of the old construction and its alignment with the street. The break between the extension of the school and the 19th century building improves pedestrian accessibility in the center of the village and reinforces the character of the courtyard, as a public place. The premises dedicated to teaching are developed on the ground floor and both upper floors. The design of the plans is clear and simple. The area for extracurricular activities are located on the ground floor and in the basement with separate access.
